this blog post came a little late, because i had a difficult time finding the picture. at last week's christian louboutin 20 years retrospective at the design museum, i saw british designer jonathan saunders walking down the stairs in the above belted coat, and i recognised it straight away. i love it when designers wear their own clothes, it makes it more believable. the patterned coat is from his upcoming menswear fall winter 2012 collection. i love the bold patterns, do you like it?

chinese actor hu bin [胡兵] covered a recent issue of esquire china, in one of the signature knitwear from bottega veneta spring summer 2012. the jumper featured several patterns, and came with a rather unusual halterneck-ish neckline. what do you think of hu bin's look?

the actor paired the jumper with the same trousers as presented on the runway.

balmain creative director olivier rousteing was in new york last week and hosted a dinner at hotel americano in chelsea new york to celebrate the launch of their social media platforms. olivier wore a navy blue blazer with exaggerated lapels and gold crested buttons. i am pretty sure it is from balmain homme, but annoyingly i cannot find a match. the fabric and styling is very close to the lookbook image above. i love the pairing with navy and gold, love his jacket.

Hamish Bowles in Dolce & Gabbana - 2012 Met Gala, New York

in case you've not realised, the annual MET gala is held in new york today. it is like the fashion oscars, but way fiercer for the ladies. this year's theme is 'schiaparelli and prada: impossible conversations'. and if you are expecting mostly black ties and tuxes for the gents then you are not too far off. however, there was a rumour/memo going around stating that all vogue staffers were to wear pink to honour elsa schiaparelli. vogue editor hamish bowles therefore arrived in a stunning pink tux from dolce & gabbana fall winter 2009. i love the little accessories he pinned on the lapel, and he seemed to be wearing a waistcoat underneath like the runway shot. his shoes were simply the icing on the cake.

hamish pulled off the look with such amazing confidence. it is very rare that one could outshine a dolce & gabbana model, i think hamish just did there. here's to more daring and creative black tie looks!

courtney love presented her debut exhibition in new york yesterday. guess we can now add "artist" to the many titles she own. titled "she's not even pretty", the exhibition was supposedly autobiographical (in her own words). italian photographer francesco carrozzini was pictured at the event, looking effortlessly laid back in a burberry prorsum leather biker jacket from spring summer 2011, paired with a forest green t-shirt and faded denims. i love that jacket, it's really the standout piece from the collection. francesco looked really good, the look was effortless but i am so so loving. 

sometimes the simplest look is ironically the hardest to achieve. love his style.

will smith attended the photocall for "men in black III" yesterday in los angeles. will wore a red/plum colored cotton jacket from louis vuitton spring summer 2012, paired with striped t-shirt and blue denims. i remembered seeing this jacket in stores. the thing that attracted me to the jacket were the gorgeous buttons on the front and back of sleeves. it's a classic investment piece which i really like.  thank you to reader "CC Marques" for pointing out that the blazer is actually from gucci spring summer 2012. apologies for my mistake.
